Fading

2/17/2023

you were a sun

so warm and bright

i fell into orbit

and loved my ellipse.

you were liquid heat

poured into my weakness,

and i began to melt.

you shone for me --

you bloomed and grew --

and i slid easily

into your swelling gravity.

you held me captive

with your magnetic words,

eager hands,

and adoring gaze

from brilliant eyes,

burning molten brown.

but as i spun

you set. and now

you are a moon

with a solid shape

and weaker pull.

your silver light

a cool reflection

of something lost
